If you’ve ever been curious about any of the historic buildings in downtown Cambridge, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Held monthly on the last Saturday of each month (except Nov & Dec).
By popular request, the August tour includes “Underground Cambridge”! Tours start at the building on the corner of N.7th Street & Wheeling Avenue (753 Wheeling Avenue). The tour is guided by a costume interpreter who leads the group from the underground to the top floor of this unique building. Local historian, Rick Booth will also present a powerpoint presentation including pictures and history of the National Road and downtown Cambridge.
Tours will be offered at 10am, Noon and 4pm. Each tour is limited to 20 people.Reservations are highly recommended for this particular tour. Demand is high and tours are expected to sell out.
Tickets are $20 per person with proceeds to benefit historic preservation efforts in downtown Cambridge. The first project for 2016 is the replacement of the historical plaques which adorn the 33 buildings in the historic district that are included in a self-guided walking tour brochure. From 4-8pm on this same day, downtown Cambridge comes alive with Rock The Block…A Rythum & Arts Walk featuring live music on the sidewalks, demonstrating artists and extended shopping hours.
